Multipoint Locking System of Windows and Doors Increase Security

Fife

This family home in Fife was experiencing some security issues with the front door. Tracey found herself locked out one day, despite the door being unlocked. They decided it was time to invest in new doors with a fully functioning multipoint locking system.

“We wanted to change the front and back door originally because of the security issues, but after seeing the Anthracite Grey sample, I was desperate to change all the windows too.” – Tracey

During the design consultation, the CR Smith representative David brought a selection of samples to show physical examples of the Lorimer windows and doors. The working example of the multipoint locking system gave Tracey and her family reassurance that the new doors would be far more secure.

The high-security system features five locks and latches, two bi-directional parrot hooks, two deadbolts and a centre hook. All Lorimer doors feature an advanced 3-star security cylinder, which offers maximum protection. It safeguards the lock from all forced methods of attack and includes anti-pick, anti-bump, anti-drill and anti-snap technology.

“We were impressed with the multiple locking systems on the doors.” – Tracey

Lorimer uPVC doors are available in the same colour options as Lorimer windows to ensure they match perfectly. Anthracite grey is a popular option for many homes both traditional and modern. After selecting the front and back door designs, Tracey was keen to upgrade all the old double glazing in her home from white to grey. Thankfully her family could visualise the change and agreed with her decision.

Our design consultant worked with Tracey to redesign the window styles of the upstairs rooms as the openings and handle positionings made it difficult for them to open. “My mum struggles to reach the handles which isn’t ideal at all” – Tracey.

Lorimer Casement windows have been specified, they have an extremely flexible design and have been styled in this home with side-opening window panes to ensure they are easy to open and also easy to safely clean from the inside.

As with Lorimer doors, Lorimer windows have a PAS 24 ‘Enhanced Security’ accreditation. Each window features a multi-point locking system with shoot bolts, anti-jemmy cleats and a locking handle.

During the installation, the family moved to a relative’s home nearby. The keys were handed to the installation team and a few days later a new set of keys were handed back. “The new windows and doors were all perfect – no mess left behind. We didn’t need to move out as it was a stress-free process but it made it just that little bit easier for us.” – Tracey

The family are delighted with their new secure and fully functioning doors and new double glazing. “We hadn’t even noticed how draughty the old windows were but the difference is huge.” – Tracey
