Helensburgh home transformed with new windows from CR Smith
Glasgow & West of ScotlandIn the West of Scotland, CR Smith is the primary choice for upgrading to new double glazed windows, due to their outstanding weather performance and ‘A’ rated energy efficiency. Living in Helensburgh, the Cavana’s were looking to replace their old windows to increase the energy efficiency of their home while combating the challenging weather fronts the west of Scotland faces.
New windows in Helensburgh
Having lived in Helensburgh their whole lives, the Cavana’s knew the challenging weather windows and doors combat and needed strong, durable products. Recently moving into their new home, they quickly realised their existing windows were not tough enough against the harsh weather and salty sea air from the North Atlantic. As a previous customer of CR Smith, they were quick to phone and book an appointment with one of our local representatives to upgrade to new Lorimer windows and doors.
A weather proof transformation
The Lorimer range from CR Smith offers unique weather resistance with external beading on the windows. External beading makes the windows more secure from the outside. When harsh winds hit the window panes, it will push inwards on the external beading, preventing the window pane from moving within the unit. The glass also sits against an upstand on the external beading, helping prevent water from entering the glazed units and damaging the interiors. Any water entering the window has to rise over the upstand, requiring a considerable amount of water to do so.
The external beading also increases the product lifespan by making the windows less vulnerable to weather conditions, therefore achieving long term product satisfaction.
Lorimer Casement Windows
The Cavana’s previous windows were old sash and case, separated with a stone mullion. Due to their low energy efficiency and narrow panes, the Cavanas decided to upgrade to the Lorimer casement windows for their weather resistant features, ease of use, and slimline frames.
By removing the stone mullion between the old sash and case windows, CR Smith created a new window space, helping increase the natural light within the Cavanas’ home, while maximising their view of the Clyde. Opting for large fixed panes with two hoppers above each, the new windows have opened up the home and increased the ventilation within, allowing the sea breeze to fill the home during the summer month.
Complete with brilliant white sills and surrounds internally, these further enhance the flow of light within the rooms, making them feel more spacious.
Timberluxe French doors
To ensure their home was fully weather proof, the Cavanas’ also upgraded their original composite storm door to a TimberLuxe engineered timber French door. TimberLuxe doors have been engineered to combat all weather conditions with their unique features. CoolSkin technology protects the timber core from fading, cracking and warping while adding a beautiful woodgrain texture to the panels. TimberLuxe doors also have an integrated moisture barrier strip at the foot of the door to prevent water ingress, further reducing the chance of warping and cracking. The couple decided this was the ideal choice for them with living so close to the water’s edge. Complete with a fan light above the storm doors, the hallway is flooded with natural light.
A difference in style and energy efficiency
Since installing the new windows and doors from CR Smith, Mr & Mrs Cavana have noticed a change in the energy efficiency of their home, increased natural light within the space and protection against the changing weather conditions. The increased light has helped to open up the space, making their home feel larger and brighter.
Mr Cavana also noted he was pleased with the level of care and professionalism from CR Smith, the attention to detail when discussing the right products for their requirements and the smoothness of the installation.
